Attorney Matt Broughton was interviewed on Spirit FM on September 29th regarding Gentry Locke's Faith & Law Seminar, being held on October 6, 2009 at The Sheraton Roanoke Hotel & Conference Center. To hear the interview, click on the "Associated File" link below.

The seminar will address issues faced by faith-based non-profit organizations and will feature Gentry Locke attorneys as well as outside speakers.

"We really want to be sure that houses of worship and faith-based non profits understand why they need to attend this event," says attorney Matthew Broughton, Group Chair for Gentry Locke's Religious Organizations law group. "As religious organizations grow and change, so do their legal needs, and so do the laws that affect their ability to grow and change" he adds.

To register, please visit www.gentrylocke.com/faithlaw.

Topics of the seminar, which were determined after the law group sought input via meetings with religious leaders from the Roanoke Valley and around Virginia, will include:

  • Employment and compensation matters
  • Legal liability, charitable immunity and insurance coverage issues
  • Construction, maintenance and improvement of buildings
  • Tax and financial issues
  • Corporate governance, real estate and financing issues
  • Crisis management and public relations

Leaders of churches, synagogues, mosques, congregations, and faith-based organizations such as religious schools and institutions, faith-based senior living facilities, religious media entities, and non-profit religious service agencies are encouraged to attend.
