Margaret A. Brown Joins Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore

Margaret Ann (Megan) Brown has joined the Virginia law firm of Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, LLP as an associate attorney in the firm's Plaintiff's practice group. Brown is licensed to practice law in Virginia and is also a Registered Nurse.

According to Matt Broughton, head of Gentry Locke's Plaintiff's section, "We expect Megan will be able to make an immediate contribution on cases where our clients have suffered catastrophic injuries."

Brown joins Gentry Locke after working in the VCU Health System as a Risk Manager and a Performance Improvement Coordinator for the academic medical center. She previously focused on medical malpractice defense work in the Roanoke Valley and prior to that, managed a Vascular Surgery Unit at a healthcare facility. Prior to law school, Brown was a practicing nurse with two university medical centers in North Carolina, where she concentrated on cardiac and intensive care nursing.

Brown received her juris doctor in 2004 from Northwestern School of Law, Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where she was Associate Editor of the Environmental Law Review. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia cum laude with a B.S. in Nursing. She is a member of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association. Brown previously served as the Roanoke Bar Association Young Lawyer's Committee representative to the RBA Long-Range Planning Committee, and volunteered with the RBA Barrister Book Buddy program.
