The October 2010 issue of Valley Business Front featured Virginia attorney Scott Sexton and his recent settlement on behalf of three families that owned and leased coal-rich property to a mining company. The complaint was the result of the mining company dumping polluted wastewater into neighboring mines that it did not lease, when it should have invested in a wastewater treatment system for the operation.
The lawsuit spanned six years, requiring thousands of hours of legal services and involving the efforts of numerous attorneys within the Roanoke-based law firm.
