EMPLOYEES, PATRONS, AND TESTERS, OH MY!
Employers in the Hospitality Industry are confronted with a myriad of employment issues which would make the Wicked Witch of the West run for cover. Is your wage policy exact enough? Is your aisle wide enough? Is your handbook "young" enough? Is your staff kind enough? This panel will offer an overview of employment topics, including recent wage and hour developments relating to calculating hours worked, out-of-office use of Blackberries and work done after the shift ends. This presentation also will focus on issues related to employing a youthful workforce, including tips on drafting policies targeted to the workforce. Finally, the panel members will provide counsel about how to deal with testers/professional plaintiffs who assert that your staff treats patrons differently based on race and who challenge your compliance with ADAAA Public Accommodation Guidelines.
