Each year, Gentry Locke recruits law students for a clerkship during the summer from May to August. We have openings in all four of our offices in Roanoke, Lynchburg, Richmond, and Norfolk where you will get the opportunity of real legal experience across a wide range of disciplines and law practices.
In this position, you will get to perform meaningful legal work, develop professional skills, and experience a law firm environment. You will have the opportunity to conduct legal research, draft documents and memoranda, attend hearings and depositions, and work with partners and associates on significant cases and projects. You will learn about the practice of law working side by side with attorneys, paralegals, and other Gentry Locke team members. Summer Associates receive feedback throughout the summer from the lawyers who assign them projects. The summer program includes social events and outings giving students the opportunity to get to know the firm’s culture, attorneys, and professional staff while having a lot of fun.
